My mom will be 83 this December. I cherish every moment I get with her, as I know our time together is getting shorter. One of my favorite traditions is Black Friday Shopping. We get up early, don our craziest Christmas outfits and head to the mall. Black Friday shopping is what you make it and Capital Mall ensures everyone has fun while making memories with giveaways and plenty of local stores, so you can #shoplocal and cross off that list all in one stop.

“The Capital Mall does a good job of creating a festive atmosphere that day and the whole holiday season,” shares Jonathan McMillan, owner of local Sole & Style inside the mall. “Capital Mall has good diversity as far as different stores that people might want to shop at. Variety is always important.”

Capital Mall Black Friday Sales at Locally-Owned Businesses

Capital Mall opens early on Black Friday at 8 a.m.! Your first stop should be Northwest Grind for a holiday drink made by a locally-owned company! Have coffee lovers on your list? Shop their merchandise and get some gift cards for stocking stuffers, Hanukkah gifts or your company’s Secret Santa!

Once you’re caffeinated, hit the stores! Nearly every store will have great deals to help you stretch that budget further while still getting the gifts you want.

Locally-owned Sole & Style is a great place to shop for the hottest sneakers for tweens, teens and the adult shoe lover in your life. They also have trendy streetwear and vintage pieces! For Black Friday at the Capital Mall, they will have items marked down to as low as a $1, with other select items up to 80% off! “We will also be doing select giveaways to in-store customers as a token of our appreciation,” shares Jonathan. “Your money stays in the community when you support local businesses like ours — and we’re showing love back with the best prices of the year!” Their Black Friday hours will be 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

If you are looking for a truly unique holiday gift – maybe you and your bestie – how about matching tattoos? Locally-owned Ghost Town Tattoo Olympia will have Black Friday sales inside the Capital Mall. Check out their $40 (plus tax) pre-drawn flash designs!

Design Customs is another locally-owned store that’s a must-visit on Black Friday. They make custom gifts, including hoodies, hats, stickers, embroidery and more, that are perfect for everyone on your list. In particular, they have great Pacific Northwest designs featuring Washington, Sasquatch and more that out-of-town guests will love (and are sure not to have!) For their Black Friday sales, in-house apparel will be 30% off with special bundle pricing for business and team orders! Free sticker packs with every purchase too! And, for custom designs, bring in your own design for $20 off each piece. Wondering what’s trending for gifts? “Right now, it’s all about local pride and adventure vibes,” shares Kevin Beale, owner of Design Customs. “People want gifts that tell a story. Something real, not mass-produced. Our Pacific Northwest-inspired apparel hits that perfectly.”

With over 60 stores, you are sure to find everything on your list, from toys for tots (don’t forget Macy’s has a Toy ‘R’ Us!), tees for teens and treats for the whole tribe! Locally-owned Sub-Zero Freeze Dried Candy is great for stocking stuffers and of course, no holiday is complete without See’s Candies and Hickory Farms, both open in the Capital Mall!

The Capital Mall is your holiday destination for merry treats and perfect gifts. Skip the online shopping: Create memories this season while supporting local stores and workers. “Shopping local keeps money in our community and supports the small businesses that make Olympia special,” shares Kevin. “The mall gives people a chance to see products up close, meet local makers, and feel that festive energy you just can’t get online.”
