Pre-Order Thanksgiving Dinner in Olympia
The Park Side Café’s Heat-at-Home Thanksgiving Dinner is open for pre-orders! This scrumptious meal has something for almost every diet and is fully organic – even the wine.
“Our menu is great for people who need to bring some vegan or allergy-friendly options to their family gathering, potlucks, or for those who just want to focus on less prep and less dishes and spend more time with one another,” shares Kelly Green, The Park Side Café manager.
You have a choice of three main dishes: seitan ham roast, tofu roast with wild rice stuffing and green bean casserole. Several incredible sides include stuffing with wild rice; herb gravy; mushroom gravy; roasted garlic mashed potatoes; orange-glazed carrots; butternut mac and peas; roast butternut squash with brussels sprouts and pecans; and dinner rolls – of course! Pair it with an organic wine to finish the meal. Everything is vegan, and the menu denotes what each item is free of (soy, nut, gluten), making it easy to order for your family’s needs.
Don’t forget the desserts! With so many choices, you will want more than one! They have Dutch apple pie; butterscotch caramel pie; chocolate peanut butter pie; lemon-coconut pie; pumpkin cheesecake; and cookies. These pies also have allergy labels so everyone can enjoy a sweet treat. (Seriously, if you have not had their pie – it’s a must-try!)
Need a pie or meal sooner? You can special order any time! This includes deli-style salads, warps, cookies, hand pies, cheesecakes and more! “These are all great for potlucks, anniversary, birthdays, get-well-soon meals, or just stocking up on your favorite dishes for the week!” shares Kelly. “We typically ask for a minimum of two to three days’ notice for special orders so we can plan to prepare everything as fresh as possible.”
The Park Side Café will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Order pick-up is on November 25 or 26. Don’t delay! To place an order, go online, call 360.528.9729 or email hello@theparksidecafe.com

Shop Locally-Made Kitchen Supplies in Olympia
So, what to get that cook or baker in your life? How about locally-made hand-woven kitchen towels? Supporting local companies not only helps our neighbors, but chances are the receiver of your gift won’t have it, especially if they are from out of town! The Rolling Pin has many locally-made items for the kitchen, including ceramics, wood cutting/serving boards, carbon steel pans from Troy at Smoke & Fire Forge and more.
“The wood charcuterie boards are always a great option and when it’s locally made, it’s even better!” shares Victoria Kantargis, The Rolling Pin manager. “You can buy some snacks and package it all together to make a really cute bundle.” Be sure to include oils and cutting board cleaning tools by a local company in Bainbridge Island, Washington.

Sustainable Gifts at The Rolling Pin
Do you have environmentally-friendly and health-conscious people on your gift list? Victoria says these are actually hot gift trends this year that anyone will love! “Reducing plastic is a continuing trend lately,” she says. “The wax wraps are a great replacement for plastic wrap or Ziplock bags for wrapping up leftovers, covering containers or packaging food. Wood cutting boards are a classic and sanitary option that can last for decades when cared for properly. And when replacing nonstick-coated pans, my favorite suggestion is carbon steel! It’s lighter than cast iron and is not coated. You season the pans similarly to a cast iron, which creates a natural non-stick surface that is a joy to cook with.”
The Rolling Pin has all these items and more to give to your loved ones – or maybe to buy as a gift for yourself!
Not sure what to give the chef in your life? The Rolling Pin offers gift cards! “Get something small paired with a gift card so they can come pick out exactly what they’ve been needing,” Victoria suggests. “It’s also helpful to see everything in person and be able to feel the quality of things. You may come across the tool you’ve been meaning to get but keep forgetting about or, get some fresh ideas for gifts by seeing the full variety of items we have in stock!”
The Rolling Pin also offers gift wrapping by donation! Let them do all the work and you can take all the credit for an amazing gift wrapped to perfection.

Gifts for Kid Cooks and Bakers
Have a young sous chef in your life? The Rolling Pin has some great gift ideas for them as well. “We have very nice kid-safe Wusthof knives!” shares Victoria. “They’re new and have a real steel blade with a rounded tip for safety and smaller handle for kids’ hands to have a safe grip. These are great quality, instead of the plastic blades you may find for kids cooking. And once your kids get old enough to use the big knives, adults can still use these as smaller prep knives!” Pair a set with a cookbook for a great gift. Or, shop their kid-sized aprons and cooking utensil sets.
