It’s time to start digging through the Halloween costume bins and gear up for the annual Haunted 5k fun run and walk on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at Woodland Creek Community Park. The family-friendly event benefits All Kids Win. The fun run also includes a Kids K. Runners can also choose the virtual race option.
All Kids Win is a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation that provides supplemental weekend food for food-insecure students in Thurston County. The program is committed to ending food insecurity by giving every student the help they need so they can focus on school, go on to graduate and reach their full potential.
“In its sixth year, the event brings together individuals of all ages and is truly family friendly,” said Kelly Wilson, board chair and volunteer for All Kids Win. “It’s rewarding to see the community come together to support All Kids Win, particularly as we see more families facing food insecurity, and have a little fun doing it.”
The weekend program was created to bridge the gap for students who benefit from government-supported meal programs, which are available only during school days. Each week, All Kids Win volunteers deliver food bags to local middle and high schools in Lacey, Tumwater, Olympia, K-8 at Wa He Lut Indian School as well as K-12 schools in Yelm, Rainier, Rochester, and Tenino.
Haunted 5k and Kids K 2025 Details

- Registration check-in opens at 9 a.m.
- Kids K begins at 9:50 a.m.
- Haunted 5k race begins at 10 a.m.
- The event concludes at 12:30 p.m.
Once again, the race is presented by Kiley Juergens Wealth Management LCC, which aligns with their value of building strong communities.
“The need is incredibly great in our communities and All Kids Win’s weekend food program is one solution to addressing childhood hunger across Thurston County,” said John Kiley, co-owner of Kiley Juergens Wealth Management LCC. “When you register for the race, you show your neighbors that together we can build strong communities, one meal and one act at a time. We are honored to be part of this event every year and look forward to seeing all the smiling faces and clever costumes that show up at this year’s event.”
Last year, 150 runners participated in the fun run with more expected this year.
“Our generous sponsors make this race possible,” Wilson said. “Each year, we reach out for support and get a resounding ‘yes,’ whether it’s a financial gift, sponsoring the t-shirts or donating coffee and snacks.”
The Haunted 5k takes place ahead of the holidays, when families need food support the most, Wilson said of the importance of the timing, which is perfect as individuals consider their holiday giving to local groups and charities.
“All Kids Win is just one program of many, but we meet the needs of nearly 1,000 kids every single week with our weekend food bags,” Wilson said. “As an all-volunteer organization that relies mostly on private donations, events like this help us do a little more at a time when kids are out of school for holiday breaks and not receiving school-sponsored breakfast and lunch.”
The race isn’t the only way to give to All Kids Win. Individuals can donate to the organization directly, or take part in other events, such as the upcoming 12 Days of Christmas virtual auction December 1-12. Each day, there will be silent auction items and each evening a live auction item will be available for bidding at 5 p.m. The auction items are announced on their Facebook and Instagram social media channels.
“We want our community to feel valued and to reach our goal of no child going hungry,” Wilson said. “That takes all of us doing what we can to ensure kids are going to school ready to learn and trusting their basic needs are met.”
