A virtually effortless way to contribute to your Thurston County or Mason County community is waiting for you at Melanie Bakala’s State Farm office. It’s as simple as asking for a free quote. Her Community Bucks program provides a $25 donation to a community nonprofit organization each time she or her staff provide a free quote when the potential customer mentions the nonprofit. There is no obligation to buy insurance after receiving the quote, and the donation will be made regardless.

“I can’t talk enough about it,” says Bakala. “I’ve always said a partnership between business and the community is really important.”

Local State Farm Office’s Community Bucks Program Enters its 13th Year in Supporting Local Groups

Bakala’s Community Bucks program is entering its 13th year. The program has benefited multiple charitable and nonprofit organizations like Paws 4 A Cause that raises funds to fight cancer in pets and people, the Mason Girls Fast Pitch Softball League, Homes First, Adopt-a-Pet Shelton, and other groups. “We make sure we do our part to support our community, and I really think Community Bucks helps with that,” she says. These Community Bucks donations are in addition to the State Farm office’s other gifts to support local groups in Mason County and Thurston County.

You don’t have to purchase the insurance after receiving a quote, and Bakala says that’s a key factor in Community Bucks. “Just give me the opportunity to give you a quote on car, home, renter or life insurance, as long as we can have a good conversation,” Bakala says.
