Looking for a haunted bar in Grays Harbor? Wondering where to stop for drinks in Aberdeen? Wanting to check out a historic building while grabbing a bite to eat? Looking for things to do in Grays Harbor County? The answer to all of these questions – and many more – is to head to The Cave Bar at the Polish Club in Aberdeen!

Steeped in history, The Cave Bar got its start as the bar for Aberdeen’s Polish Club, which was built in 1916. Polish immigrants in the area built the building for use as a community center with classes, dances, dinner and meetings, shares Tracy Hatton, owner of The Cave Bar since June 2024. Club members operated the bar until the 1970s or 80s, when changing liquor laws meant that was no longer an option.
Instead of closing the bar, they decided to lease out the space and have it owned and operated by an independent owner.
The Polish Club is still in operation with over 100 individual members. “The only time the bar was not in operation is during prohibition,” shares Tracy. “It is the last remaining club building in Grays Harbor still owned and operated by an immigrant-oriented organization.”
With an active social calendar, the Polish Club hosts events for their members and their families throughout the year. They also rent the hall out to other community organizations for events. The Cave Bar continues to be an important aspect of social gatherings.
Aberdeen’s Haunted Bar has Music, Bingo, Dancing and More
“Many people feel the building is haunted,” shares Hatton. “Former bartenders and current customers, feel they are being watched or otherwise ‘not alone’ in various areas of the building.”
But you are never truly alone anyway…with the friendly Bar Manager Ashley Rico, Evening Bartender Chelsea Leavenworth (who is also well-known in the community for her tattoo skills) owner Tracy and her son Zach, who she says helps out when needed…you’ll find plenty of friendly spirts at The Cave Bar. The staff loves welcoming newcomers and regulars alike!
In addition to the incredible staff, The Cave Bar has social events every month – come alone and make some new friends, or maybe even a love connection! “We have a lot of women who feel comfortable coming in alone, stating they feel safe and secure hanging out with us,” shares Tracy.
Play a game or pool or darts, or watch the big game on the jumbotron. Put your favorite tune on with the digital jukebox or sing-a-long at Friday night hosted karaoke.
Love bingo? You have got to try this unique music bingo in Aberdeen! “I don’t think anyone else in Grays Harbor does this – yet,” says Tracy. “It’s similar to regular bingo, but the squares have song titles instead of numbers, the host plays music and you stamp out the song when it plays. You don’t have to know the song, the host will tell you what song it is! It’s lots of fun, people sing to the songs. It brings in a fun crowd of people and we offer prizes for each round.”
And since your practically family from the moment you walk in, The Cave Bar celebrates birthdays one Saturday a month. If it’s your birthday month, stop by for a free birthday shot and a special birthday cupcake!
