The FC Olympia Artesians aannounced on Wednesday the appointment of two new USL League Two (USL2) technical staffers for the upcoming 2025 season. New USL2 head coach Seyti Sidibay and USL2 Technical Director Jason Prenovost. Both with ties to the Sounders organization in two different roles and times in recent history.
Seyti Sidibay comes to the USL2 having coaching experience in both professional-amateur soccer and youth at PacNW Soccer Club in King County. Seyti also assists in Seattle Sounders Futures youth soccer programs. Sidibay recently earned his United States Soccer Federation ‘A’ Coaching License and holds a business degree and completing continuing education at the United States Sports Academy.
“I am most excited to be a part of the Olympia, WA soccer community” said new USL2 Head Coach Seyti Sidibay. “I look forward to meeting the supporters and driving the USL men’s soccer program forward.”
A part of the new FC Olympia USL2 technical staff is local college coaching legend Jason Prenovost who holds the distinct title of “winningest NWAC coach in conference history” (306-97-66). Prenovost comes with an extensive soccer resume having coached the U23 Sounders from 2012-2018 as an assistant coach and head coach in 2019-2020. He also coaches ECNL programs for Washington Premier in Tacoma, WA.
Prenovost is the Athletic Director at Tacoma Community College and holds two multiple bachelors degrees and a master’s degree. His resume also boasts a USSF ‘B’ Coaching License.
“I feel very comfortable in saying Jason is the biggest hire FC Olympia has ever made” said FC Olympia USL Sporting Director Chris Wells. “His resume speaks for itself. He has been successful at every level he has ever coached at. But even more important, the impact he has had in developing both players and coaches as people in our region is unparalleled.”
Prenovost and Sidibay will work together to usher in the newly expanded Northwest Division of USL League Two for the Artesians. The Washington and Oregon portion of the nationwide USL soccer market has added 6 new teams between Snohomish, WA to Tacoma, WA since Ballard FC and FC Olympia entered USL2 together in 2022.
“My favorite thing about this level is the players” said Prenovost. “I had the good fortune to coach in this league for a number of years. Many of the young people we coached have gone on to have pro soccer careers. Their excitement is contagious and drive you to give everything you have to aid in their success.”
FC Olympia has been a path to pro soccer club based in Thurston County since 2014 and provides USL national soccer market matches across women’s and men’s soccer. Over the years the team has featured Olympic athletes, pro players, all-americans and local college athletes. The club also provides youth clinics and camps as well as free ticketing to USL matches for kid’s.
“I love the grassroots feel of the organization” said Jason Prenovost. “It begins with Ryan (Perkins) and Jay’s (Smith) vision for FC Olympia. There is something about the city of Olympia that also really excites me. It’s a great town, unique and what better way to impact the community than through this USL soccer project.”
FC Olympia’s most notable USL2 season came in 2023 in which FC Olympia clinched the National Playoff under then-coach Liviu Bird including upsetting #1 Ranked Ballard FC as well as undefeated Top 10 Park City Redwolves. Seyti Sidibay now looks to develop success now in his time helming FC Olympia this summer.
“I see a hard working, honest coach with a great mind for the game” said Prenovost regarding new Head Coach Seyti Sididbay. “The players that I know who have played for him talk highly of him and his teams play an attractive style of soccer. He has a humility and hunger that will serve him well.”
With the USL2 hires the FC Olympia “Artesians” have finalized their 2025 USL coaching leadership as the USL W franchise announced in December the promotion of Kellyn Green to Head Coach. Vanessa Crisp was also announced as the returning USL W General Manager and promotion to the USL W League Northwest Division Executive Director.
The USL2 team has yet to announce a USL trial date but has a player interest forms for prospects to fill out for future trials on their fcoly.com website. With Sidibay and Prenovost’s hiring the club expects to announce trial dates soon.
“USL2 offers players the platform to showcase their talent” said Sidibay. “I want to be a part of their journey, especially those who want to sign professional contracts. I am here to help in any way I can to show that USL2 is a great path for such aspirations and for those that want to continue to play at a great level for the love of the game.”
“Seyti is a grinder and a coach players respect” said Sporting Director Chris Wells. “I have no doubt he is going to be successful at the USL 2 level. The future is bright with the addition of Seyti and his energy.”
“Jason Prenovost really shares our clubs goals and his selection of Seyti Sidibay to be the skipper of our men’s program reflects a bright future. Jason and Seyti working hand in hand to develop a competitive local, regional squad excites me and I can’t wait to see them compete this summer in Olympia”
-Artesian Part Owner Jay Smith
“I have never met a person with a bad thing to say about Jason and I know many players and coaches who view him as a role model and an important figure in their soccer careers. I am excited for FC Olympia, but I am even more excited for the Olympia soccer community that Jason will be in a spot to create positive impact. This is a big deal, and we are very lucky to have him abroad.”
