Think you need to avoid the mall to shop local? Think again! Capital Mall has worked hard to have a large selection of locally owned or operated businesses. With over 40 local businesses, you can find something for everyone on your list and on December 3, 2024, you can give even more with their Giving Tuesday event.

In partnership with Thurston County Relay for Life, Capital Mall’s Giving Tuesday event will have crafts and activities for kids. Relay for Life will be gift wrapping for donations, and you can create a holiday card for a local cancer patient to brighten the season. “Our Relay for Life is one of the Top 10 Relays in the nation,” shares Hope Montag, marketing and business development manager at Capital Mall. “We are proud to partner for them on Giving Tuesday to help local families dealing with cancer.”

Wanting to find something for everyone on your list while shopping local? Look no further than the Capital Mall! Find Kawaii stocking stuffers at Koneko Café and Tokyo Anime. Stocking stuffers for all can be found at the brand-new Sock 24 store that has socks as well as shoe charms, slippers and more.

Looking for gifts that won’t end up tossed out or broken? All ages would love karate lessons from Rising Tide Karate as a fun gift that will keep them active in the New Year. Or, purchase a gift card to My Salon for a 2025 makeover. A gift card from Northwest Grind makes a great gift or stocking stuffer for coffee and tea lovers.

Fashionistas would love something uniquely designed by you from Design Customs or deadstock sneakers from Sole & Style. And of course, it’s not the holidays without chocolate and See’s Chocolates has everything you may want to give or eat yourself.

Santa loves Capital Mall, and so he stays as long as he can, until 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve, to make sure he sees as many kids as he can….as well as all those good dogs!

Santa will be having Santa Paw days on November 27 and December 4 and 11 all day. Of course, pups are welcome at the mall any day to get a photo with Santa if needed.

On December 1 and 8 is Soothing Santa from 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. During Soothing Santa, the mall lights are low, no music is playing and no cleaning with vacuums, etc., will take place. Since space is limited and the lights and music will go up after 11 a.m., it is strongly encouraged you make reservations for Soothing Santa.

Head to the Santa Photos website for prices and to reserve your day and time! Walk-ins are taken as time and space allows.

The Capital Mall in Olympia is the perfect place to shop local while staying warm and dry. Grab a gingerbread latte and make some memories with your family that will last much longer than that bag of chocolate santas.
