It’s time to start thinking about decking the halls and we all know the most important part is the Christmas tree! Gathering around a brightly lit and decorated evergreen chases away the winter blues and reminds us of what is important this time of year. In Thurston County, we have many locally-owned Christmas tree farms for you to select the perfect tree from. Here is the 2024 guide to Christmas Tree Farms near Olympia and throughout Thurston County.

Cetak Family Christmas Tree Farm is a u-cut Christmas tree farm in Olympia. They are open for Thanksgiving weekend only! They have noble ($9 per foot) or Douglas fir ($6 per foot) Christmas trees as well as fresh noble wreaths priced at $25-30.

Christmas Valley Tree Farm has been a tradition for many Thurston County families for decades. It offers a selection of blue and Norway spruces and noble, Nordmann, grand, Fraser and Douglas firs. You can find all sizes of trees, from miniature to 15 feet, most years.

Schilter Family Farm Christmas trees in Olympia has noble, Fraser, Nordmann, grand and Douglas firs at their u-cut tree farm. This year, they have fresh Christmas trees from 4 feet to 10 feet tall. Schilter Family Farm offers netting, shaking and flocking as well. Don’t want to cut your own? They have fresh-cut Christmas trees as well.

Be sure to check out their lighted nativity scene and their gift shop that offers hot chocolate and hot apple cider. Find wreaths, fresh garland and seasonal decorations and ornaments to deck your halls! Santa will be visiting the first two Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. No admission fees. Jensen’s U Cut Trees is a Christmas tree farm in Tenino with noble ($75), grand ($60) and Douglas ($45) fir trees. They are closed Tuesday through Thursday, so plan accordingly to visit this Christmas tree farm in Thurston County. Jensen’s U Cut Trees bales, and will help with cutting and loading if needed.

Hunter Family Farm is a u-cut Christmas Tree Farm in Olympia that offers a wide variety of noble, grand, Douglas, Nordmann, Norway and Fraser firs. It also has a holiday shop full of fun décor and gifts, tree stands, wreaths, garlands and more. Santa will be visiting Hunter Family Farm on November 29 and the first three weekends from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. so bring your camera!

Another u-cut Christmas tree farm in Thurston County is Black Lake Trees. It also has a selection of fresh-cut trees for those not wishing to cut down their own. Black Lake Trees has Norway spruce and Douglas, grand, and noble fir trees.

They also have wreaths made with fresh-cut greenery. Black Lake Trees provides saws and carts and can assist if you need it. For more information, visit the Black Lake Trees website or Facebook page.

Beaver Creek Christmas Tree Farm in Olympia will open the day after Thanksgiving, November 29. This u-cut Christmas tree farm has noble, Nordmann and grand fir trees. This year, look for unique trees with gaps that allow for creative decorating, like adding a train!

You can also go out into the forest and select a Christmas tree from a National Forest. You will need a $5 permit, which you can purchase online or from vendors in Port Angeles, Sequim, Quilcene and Hoodsport.  You can choose a tree from certain areas in Forks, Hoodsport, Quilcene, Quinault and the Quinault Special Management area. Fourth graders can receive a free permit. Limit of five permits per household and they cannot be over 15-feet tall. There are some other rules too, so read through the Recreation.gov site before you go. For more information, visit the National Forest website.
