Thurston Community Media (TCMedia) announces its search for community members to participate in the December 2, 2023 ‘Live at Five’ a collaborative community comedy show in partnership with Olympia Film Collective (OlyFilm.)

The latest episode of Live at Five is currently airing on TCMedia’s cable channels 22 and 77, on demand at tcmedia.org, on TCMedia’s Roku and AppleTV channels and on TCMedia’s Android and iOS apps. You can also watch it through TCMedia’s YouTube channel @thurstoncommunitymedia.

“It’s kinda like Saturday Night Live,” says TCMedia board member and community producer, Darleen Adkins, “It’s unique to our community and it brings a lot of people together.”

“Live at Five is already winning awards,” says director Robert Kam, “we are a finalist for Best Sketch Comedy in the Portland Comedy Film Festival and we received a special mention from the 1 World Comedy Film Festival.”

“Live at Five was definitely one of the most positive experiences I have ever had in my life and if you have time to watch it on YouTube I would watch it.” says first time actor and Olympia resident, Kyndal Meister, who played a special agent in one of the digital shorts and a waitress in one of the live skits.

80 year old Dottie LaRonge, Tumwater resident, Live at Five actor and TCMedia producer for “In the Know Women’s Show”, says “The experiences I have gained from TCMedia have just blossomed my life beyond my wildest dreams.”

Writing workshops:

If you would like to help write scripts for the December 2 Live at Five show you can register to attend one of the free writing workshops at the Timberland Regional Library Saturday, September 23. You must RSVP by sending an email to olyliveatfive@gmail.com before September 22. There will be two workshops: from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Olympia Timberland Library and from 3:15 p.m. – 6 p.m. at the Tumwater Regional Library.

Auditions:

Auditions for Live at Five will be Saturday, September 30 from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Actors can make an appointment by emailing olyliveatfive@gmail.com or they can show up at any time between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. to TCMedia at 440 Yauger Way SW, Suite C. Resumes and headshots are not required. No need to prepare a monologue.

Live Show:

The live television show will be on Saturday, December 2 from 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Actors performing in the live show must be available on Friday, December 1st from 6 p.m. – 9 p.m. for the dress rehearsal. If you are not available on those days you may still participate with the OlyFilm digital shorts.

If you want to be part of the TV studio crew you can enroll in the Advanced Studio Production Course or the Advanced DSLR Cinematography course. Details about workshops and trainings can be found at the TCMedia website.
