A Locally-Owned Event Space in Tenino

The Johnsons have been proud residents of Tenino for many years. “Ross was born and raised in Tenino,” Jade shares. “I’m from Puyallup, but I moved here over 10 years ago when Ross and I got together. I really feel like I’m from Tenino at this point. I’m grateful for how the community has welcomed me.”

If you’re in Tenino and you want to support local, look no further than the businesses owned by Ross and Jade. “Jade has owned and run The Kodiak Room for a while now,” Ross shares. The Kodiak Room is a popular event space in the area known for hosting weddings, concerts and other community events. “We figured this could be a great opportunity to have a fun bar area right next door.”

With their experience and passion for hospitality, they decided in 2022 that it was time to embark on a new venture by opening 1776 Tenino Bar. Being deeply rooted in the community, they aim to create a welcoming atmosphere that celebrates both the town’s history and its future.

Tenino Bar with an American History Speakeasy Theme

1776 Tenino Bar is set to offer an immersive experience for anyone seeking great drinks and classic energy. The captivating American history theme will be headlined by a beautiful wall made of native Tenino sandstone that has stood since 1904. Additionally, the bar’s interior will be adorned with historical artifacts and vintage decor to create a truly nostalgic ambiance. Cozy couches and fresh food will round out the experience for families and late-night visitors alike.

Tenino’s newest bar will also serve as an extension of the previously mentioned Kodiak Room event space. The two will be connected by a large archway made to emulate the original brick and mortar archways found in older buildings in the region. These combined areas will provide an ideal setting for private gatherings, themed parties and community events. The unique blend of history and modern amenities will ensure that visitors can enjoy a memorable evening steeped in a cozy and historical atmosphere.

1776 Tenino Traveling Bar

In an innovative move to reach a wider audience, the Johnsons have exciting plans to introduce a mobile version of the 1776 Tenino Bar. This traveling bar will bring the same historical charm and warm hospitality to different locations, allowing people across the region to experience the unique concept. The first mobile bar setup will debut at the T90 Ranch in Tenino during its summer events.

The T90 Ranch is a space focused on equine rehabilitation and conditioning. It also plays host to camping and large events throughout the year. Between the T90 Ranch and events like Oregon Trail Days in Tenino, there should be plenty of opportunities to initiate this project. Eventually, they hope to bring their ideas to more event spaces throughout Washington.
