Nearly 500 of Washington State’s top high school golfers will converge on Thurston County golf courses May 23-24 for the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) Golf Championships May 23-24. The region hosted the tournament in 2022 after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.
“The WIAA is excited to return for state golf and work with the Olympia & Beyond Sports Commission,” Andy Barnes, Assistant Executive Director at WIAA said. “The member schools and the association appreciate all the work the staff do to support WIAA events.”
Three Thurston County golf courses lined up to host three different classifications: Tumwater Valley Golf Club for 1B/2B Boys and Girls; The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie for 3A Girls and Indian Summer Golf & Country Club for 3A Boys. A fourth course, Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis will host 1A Boys and Girls.
“We are proud of our partnership with WIAA and appreciate their confidence in our hospitality providers to put on a first-class tournament,” Jeff Bowe, Vice President of Sales and Development at the Olympia & Beyond Sports Commission said. “Not only do our golf courses step up to support the event, but so do our hotels, restaurants and other local businesses.”
First round tee times will be posted on the WIAA website by May 19. More tournament information, including how to see the event in person is available at Washington Interscholastic Activities Association website.
