Saint Martin’s University is pleased to announce valedictorian Kathryn Crimp and salutatorian Patricia Brogan for the 2022-2023 academic year.

Valedictorian Kathryn Louise Yulianna Crimp

Valedictorian Kathryn Crimp is graduating with a dual bachelor’s degree in secondary education and mathematics. She earned a cumulative grade point average of 4.0. Crimp grew up in Ellensburg, Wash., where she attended the Ellensburg School District. After graduating, Crimp plans to return to her hometown and fulfill her dream of becoming a math teacher. 

Crimp spends her time playing golf, student teaching, and tutoring. She is the 2021 Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) women’s golf champion and four-time recipient of the GNAC scholar-athlete award. She is currently a student teacher at North Thurston High School and tutors students from across the nation through the Wyzant program, a browser-based online learning tool that connects people with qualified experts. 

She would like to thank her professors Jeremy Delamarter, Ed.D., and Eric Boyer, Ph.D., for inspiring her to teach. “I have learned numerous strategies from them, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without their guidance in the classroom,” shared Crimp.

Salutatorian Patricia Ann Brogan

Salutatorian Patricia Brogan is graduating with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in electrical engineering. She earned a cumulative grade point average of 4.0. Brogan grew up in Montesano, Wash., and attended the Montesano School District. She participated in the Running Start program in high school and earned her associate in arts degree from Grays Harbor College. Brogan returned to Grays Harbor the following year to earn a degree in automotive technology.

After serving in the military, Brogan used her G.I. Bill to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering at Saint Martin’s University. She was inducted into the Pi Tau Sigma Honor Society for Mechanical Engineers in 2020, and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi and the SALUTE Veterans National Honor Society in 2021.

She would like to thank her parents, husband, family, friends, and professors for supporting her throughout her time at the University. After graduation, Brogan will join the engineering team at Vaughan Company in her hometown of Montesano.

The Saint Martin’s University 2023 Commencement ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at the Hal and Inge Marcus Pavilion on the University’s Lacey campus, 5300 Pacific Ave SE.
