The Washington Center continues the 22-23 Season with Silent Movies, Skerryvore and Frozen II Sing Along.

April 2 at 2 p.m. Silent Movie: A Buster Keaton Collection

This is your opportunity to experience silent films the way they were meant to be seen and heard! Celebrate the Centennial year of these classic Buster Keaton films: “The Balloonatic,” “The Love Nest,” and “Our Hospitality.” Our own house organist, the world-class theater organist Dennis James brings the silent era to life performing on our historic 1924 musical treasure: The Mighty Andy Crow Wurlitzer Organ. We welcome film fans of all ages to step back in time to revel in the authentically recreated sounds and nostalgia from times gone by.

April 6 at 7:30 p.m. Comedy Underground

Comedy Underground is back to make you laugh. This time we welcome 2018 Seattle International Comedy Competition winner Phillip Kopcynski. Always pulling from life experiences and poorly thought-out opinions, Phillip’s animated story-telling pulls audiences in for an eccentric good time. He has been seen from Vancouver, BC to Orlando, FL. His 2019 Drybar Special, “Full-Grown Man” has been viewed over a million times, and his 2021 Comedy Dynamics special, “Live at the Spokane Comedy Club” has been seen by hundreds of prisoners.

Phillip will be joined by Kate Carlson Carlsen. Drawing on her 20 years of marriage and life as a stay home mom, her fun story-telling style about her life and raising an unconventional family will surely leave you laughing! She recently competed in the 42nd Annual Seattle Comedy Competition and can be seen in the film “Fool Capacity: Comedy in the Time of Covid.” Kate’s talent includes hosting, producing and featuring in comedy throughout the northwest over the past 6 years. Recommended for ages 18+.

April 7 at 8 p.m. Black Box Jazz:

Frank Kohl and John Stowell will be performing in our intimate Black Box Theater. John Stowell is an internationally recognized guitarist and clinician, traveling the world teaching and performing. John has performed or recorded with Milt Jackson, Herb Ellis, Larry Coryell and many many others. LA Times has said of John: “a delightful departure from the road well traveled. He transcends the label of jazz guitarist”.

Frank Kohl is based in Seattle and performs nationwide from Jazz Club’s in NYC like Smalls and Mezzrow’s to venues in Seattle like Earshot Jazz Festival and Tulas Jazz Club. JazzTimes has said: “Frank is set to be well recognized for his splendid compositions and artistry. His talent and craftsmanship make him imminently worthy of notoriety”.

April 14 at 8 p.m. Skerryvore

With a mix of fiddle, accordions, pipes and whistles, alongside guitar and vocals, underpinned by driving bass, drums and keys, Skerryvore represents the best in contemporary Scottish traditional music.  From their early days in Scottish West Coast halls and bars to touring the world today, it’s on the road in front of a live audience that they really come into their own.  Skerryvore has a growing fanbase worldwide and the promise of much more to come. “A spectacular mix of traditional Scottish folk music and the most diverse rock elements.” Süddeutsche Zeitung, GERMANY.

April 29 at 6 p.m. Frozen II Sing-Along

Join us for a Frozen II sing-along and costume contest! Belt out “Into The Unknown” and “Show Yourself” with Elsa. April 30 at 2 p.m. Silent Movie: Douglas Fairbanks in Robin Hood

The first motion picture ever to have a Hollywood premiere, Douglas Fairbanks in “Robin Hood” was one of the most expensive films of the 1920s. Our own house organist, the world-class theater organist Dennis James brings the silent era to life performing on our historic 1924 musical treasure: The Mighty Andy Crow Wurlitzer Organ. Experience silent films the way they were meant to be seen and heard! Our Silent Movie Series is a signature event at the Washington Center. We welcome film fans of all ages to step back in time to revel in the authentically recreated sounds and nostalgia from times gone by.
