At the young age of 15, Gabi Trautmann started working at her local comic book store. Three years later, she bought the store for $1 and all of it’s debt.
In the 30 years since, her small business – Gabi’s Olympic Cards & Comics – has become a pillar of the Thurston County community, a hub for social service outreach centers, and the launch pad for Gabi’s Kids, a nonprofit helping to support kids and families in the south sound.
In 2022, a short-form documentary was produced to highlight not just how this community came to be but why it came to be and the many lives that have benefited as a result.
