On November 15, 2022, the South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) Dr. Angela J. Bowen Center for Health Education was announced as the winner of the Northwest Construction Consumer Council (NWCCC)’s 2022 Distinguished Project Award for Public Projects Under $10 million.

The NWCCC Distinguished Project Award program recognizes excellence in the engineering, design, and construction of projects completed or nearing completion by NWCCC members during the prior two years. When judging projects, the NWCCC considers criteria including safety, goals and objectives, cost and schedule, unique features, and more.

Beginning in 2021, SPSCC worked closely with the Washington State Department of Enterprise Services (DES) and Sellen Construction and Hennebery Eddy Architects to transform three floors of the existing office building into a new home for the college’s Nursing and Medical Assisting programs and the college Foundation. The project was completed in time for the fall 2022 academic quarter.
