Every amazing holiday memory I have involves a hot drink. Hot chocolate after Christmas tree cutting. Peppermint mocha at 6 a.m. on Black Friday with my husband. Cookie decorating with an eggnog latte. The holidays just aren’t the same without that special drink handcrafted from a local coffee shop. This year, make sure that coffee drink comes from Northwest Grind – a locally-owned coffee shop in Olympia, Rochester and soon Yelm that goes the extra mile to ensure incredible flavor and quality in every drink and every bite.

Speaking of 6 a.m., the new Northwest Grind in Olympia at the Capital Mall opens at 6 a.m. on the weekdays, 6:30 a.m. on Saturdays and 7 a.m. on Sundays, so you can get your caffeine fix before the mall opens and be ready to face your day! They are easy to find with their own outside door at the front mall entrance in the former Starbucks location.

Olympia Coffee Shop Serves up High-Quality, Quick Breakfast Bites

Grabbing a quick bite often means sacrificing taste and quality – like going through the nearest fast food restaurant and convincing yourself their mocha and breakfast sandwich taste good. Kyle and Crystal Bundy, owners of Northwest Grind, believe everyone should be able to have a quick bite that tastes amazing. “Local bakers bake all of our items, everything is fresh and made-from-scratch,” shares Crystal. This includes their very popular, fresh homemade pop tarts, something you won’t find at that fast food chain. They also have cinnamon rolls, scones and items on the savory side, including quiches, flatbreads and breakfast sandwiches and burritos.

Fresh takes time you say? Not at any of the Northwest Grind locations! Crystal understands that people are in a hurry to start or continue their day, so they’ve made every effort to get fresh, quality food out fast. That includes investing in special ovens for each of their locations that cook foods quick without ruining the flavor. “Most of our food items are out within five minutes,” she shares.

And, if you really need to grab and go, you can call the Capital Mall location ahead of time at 360.539.7831, place your order, and park in one of their two reserved, 10-minute parking spots that are right by the front mall entrance. “We are also working on an online ordering system, to help out those in a hurry even more,” Crystal adds.

Capital Mall is now dog friendly and so is Northwest Grind! “We love dogs!” shares Crystal. “We have dog treats and can make a puppacino too.” Come in, check out the festive décor, sit and stay for treats both human and canine will love!

With over 80 syrup flavors, as well as Red Bull and Lotus, Northwest Grind can make you any caffeinated – or decaffeinated – drink you wish, whether it’s a simple latte or a half-caf, caramel, hazelnut and marshmallow mocha with almond milk. And speaking of Lotus, Northwest Grind has a Lotus fountain, something that’s very rare at coffee shops. “Normally how people make Lotus is they pump the Lotus from a bottle into the cup, and then they add the ice and then they’ll add the seltzer water, so it’s never a perfect mix,” explains Crystal, “but ours comes out perfectly mixed every time.” And if you like Lotus, they have every flavor, including red, pink, blue, purple and white, as well as diet in red, pink and blue.
