It’s a treat to get to take your best four-legged friend with you when you shop. Maybe you need to grab a present on the way back from the groomers and don’t want to leave your dog in the car. Maybe it’s pouring outside and you like the idea of walking your dog indoors while getting to shop. Whatever your reason for wishing your dog was welcome at Capital Mall, your wish is granted! Starting May 7, Capital Mall will be dog friendly and they are celebrating with a Gone to the Dogs Celebration from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. that Saturday.

“We are thrilled to invite well behaved, leashed dogs to Capital Mall starting Saturday, May 7,” says Stef Cicerello, marketing & business development manager. “In an effort to enhance the shopping experience, guests may enjoy select shopping and dining options at the center in a dry, safe environment year-round. We are the first enclosed shopping center in the area to offer this amenity to our guests.”

Have matching outfits for your and your dog? Now you can show off your awesomeness at the mall during Capital Mall house and Mall Walker Hours! And if you don’t have matching outfits, Old Navy can help you out during the fall and winter when they carry matching dog and owner outfits.

Dogs will be allowed in certain stores only. The Capital Mall website will have a list of dog-friendly stores. “Also, stores that are dog-friendly will have a window cling visible to let owners know their pooch is welcome there,” shares Stef. And while your dog may not be allowed in the movie theater—much too loud for their ears anyway—you can definitely share a snack at one of the mall quick-service restaurants and sit at the tables, perfect for those stormy days when being outside is just not fun for human or canine. Or, get your steps in while shopping the fun stores. Your dog can help you pick out some quirky socks at Hot Topic, or a new board game to play at PlayLive Nation.

When your dog needs a break, Capital Mall has doggy relief stations identified outside select mall entrances, as well as listed on the website. Of course, we know accidents sometimes happen. It’s okay, but all owners are responsible to clean up after their dog if there is an accident inside or outside the mall.

To keep everyone safe, happy and enjoying the benefit of having a dog-friendly indoor mall, Capital Mall does ask dog owners to read their canine code of conduct before bringing your dog with you. “If a dog is aggressive both the dog and owner will be asked to leave the property,” shares Stef. The Code of Conduct can be found on the website and also posted at Capital Mall entrances.

Gone to the Dogs Celebration

Come celebrate the welcoming of the dogs at Capital Mall May 7 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.! Be one of the first dogs to get to walk the paths of the mall. Dogs and their owners can walk the pup-erazzi green carpet and take photos. Get a free caricature of your dog and you, enter the raffles from the dog-friendly Capital Mall stores and pick up a doggy bag full of swag. It’s sure to be the canine social event of the season and a howling good time, so mark your calendars and grab those leashes!
