The night begins with the 80s and 90s Mixtape Live Show! During the two-hour show, lively performers will lip-sync to all the classics you love. You’re going to want to dance, dance, dance! “It’s a ton of fun to watch,” says Kara Brotche founder of the Kara Lynn Foundation. “It’s almost impossible not to get on the dance floor!”

Then, continue to dance the night away with a talented DJ playing all the hit songs from your favorite eras. When you need to refresh, a bar will be serving drinks. Be sure to enter the 50/50 raffle because you just might go home a bit richer! There will also be a silent auction with tons of incredible donated items, including a trip to Las Vegas, where the party never stops! Be sure to check out the fun 80’s and 90’s swag that will be for sale at the show, perfect for yourself or as a gift. Finally, raise the paddle to help the Kara Lynn Foundation positively impact the lives of more local children and families.

It’s sure to be a fun night, and for just $15 (pre-sale) or $20 a person at the door, it can’t be beat! It’s all happening at the Olympia Eagles Ballroom on March 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Be KIND. Be TRUE. Be STRONG. Be YOU.

Kara Brotche owned a store in a mall before one fateful day changed her life. She suffered a grand-mal seizure and broke her knee. She decided to close her mall store. But what next? Her accountant pushed her to start a nonprofit and continue motivational speaking, something she had really gotten into after she had closed her store. “I had started a clothing line with the words ‘be kind, be true, be strong, be you,’” Brotche shares. “That’s what started me on a speaking circuit. Telling my story while sharing those eight words.”

In April of 2016 she founded the Kara Lynn Foundation with those eight words in the forefront of her foundation and speaking. “Those eight words are words to live by,” she shares. “Be KIND, Be TRUE, Be STRONG, Be YOU doesn’t matter your circumstance or situation. I believe you are what you attract. So, if we all could live by these words, the world would be a better place. Having a seizure disorder, I attracted people that weren’t so kind among many other things to me. I don’t have ill feelings toward them. I believe most of them just didn’t understand or take the time to get to know me past the fact I have seizures.”

The Kara Lynn Foundation’s mission is to inspire people to be empathetic towards others and live a life of integrity. The nonprofit helps those with epilepsy while providing supports for their family and friends, who may be unsure of how to deal with everything they are facing. They also have a strong anti-bulling platform for children who are mistreated due to their disabilities. “I do classes with children on acceptance,” says Brotche. “I have spoken at schools, hospitals, conventions, galas and other events. I tell my story and teach about overcoming and acceptance. Not allowing your medical diagnoses to define you.”

Wishes, Hopes, Dreams and Magical Experiences

Monies raised at the 80s and 90s Mixtape Live Show event on March 19 will help support the nonprofits programs, which include important things like services dogs, advocacy for care and everyday necessities that can become a burden when medical bills pile up, such as utility bills, food and hygienic items. The Foundation also adopts families at Thanksgiving, providing food and hygiene items, and at Christmas, where they provide everything from the tree and ornaments, to gifts and a holiday meal.

A big part of the Kara Lynn Foundation is their wishes, hopes dreams and magical experiences program. “Wishes are small and Magical Experiences are big,” explains Brotche. “We recently remodeled a teenage girl’s room because she applied for a Magical Wish and wanted to have a nice bedroom. People don’t realize how much time children with chronic illnesses spend in their room recovering or feeling ill. We have also taken kids on vacations with this program.”

Facing ongoing medical challenges is an emotional, physical and financial drain. You can help the Kara Lynn Foundation relieve local families of these burdens by attending the 80s and 90s Mixtape Live Show. Purchase your tickets in advanced online or at the door. Then, get ready to dance the night away for a great cause and, as Bill and Ted would say, “Be excellent to each other. Party on, Dudes!”
