At a special ceremony on January 28, 2022, Lacey Mayor Andy Ryder was inducted into America’s First Corps Civilian Hall of Fame.

Mayor Ryder received this honor for his continued support and dedication to military veterans and their families.  Mayor Ryder served an instrumental role in the establishment of the Lacey Veterans Services Hub which opened in 2016. Since its launch, the innovative “Hub” has served as a one-stop-location where Veterans can access programs and information on benefits, education, employment, housing, mental health, nutrition services, and so much more. In 2021, the City of Lacey celebrated the expansion of the Hub to meet the continued growth in demand for services.

“It is an absolute amazing honor to serve those who serve us,” said Mayor Ryder. “I want to do everything I can to ensure veterans and their families, who have sacrificed so much for us, receive the benefits and services they have earned.”

The Civilian Hall of Fame program, established in 2003, annually recognizes civilians who have contributed to the community for three or more years and make an exceptional impact on service members, military families, and the Joint Base Lewis-McChord community.
