South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) congratulates student-athletes Khalia Craig and Jayde Grams for being selected for the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) West Region All-Star Volleyball Team. Craig made the NWAC 2nd Team All-Region and Grams made NWAC Honorable Mention as well as the Sophomore All-Star Team.
From Mount Tahoma High School and South Sound Volleyball Club, Craig joined the Clippers in 2020. “Craig came to SPSCC after playing for me and coach Hua at the club level,” said Tusalava Kuaea, Head Volleyball Coach at SPSCC. “She knew what was expected and came into the season with fire and a high volleyball IQ needed at the college level. Craig broke through a new level of play that SPSCC has never seen before.” Craig closed out the season with 185 kills, 22 of which were in the Clippers’ final match against Pierce College.
In addition to a team-best record of 219 digs, Grams was also recognized for her academic achievements off the court. She received SPSCC’s Outstanding Student Award in 2021 and repeatedly earned a spot on the President’s List. “Grams was a three-year captain who has maintained a 4.0 GPA every quarter since coming to SPSCC in 2019,” said Coach Kuaea. “She mentored for her teammates, gave back to her community, and was overall a wonderful addition to the program.”
“Jayde Grams and Khalia Craig both played key roles in the success and growth of the Clipper Volleyball program,” said Coach Kuaea. “This is no surprise that they are being awarded NWAC honors for their hard work and dedication displayed this season. I am extremely proud of both of them and look forward to watching their journey as student-athletes progress.”
