Providence Chemical Dependency Center Presents ‘Alcohol and Your Brain’ Free Virtual Community Talk November 18

Are you struggling with substance abuse issues or are you concerned about a friend or loved one? The Providence Chemical Dependency Center will be presenting a free virtual event Thursday, November 18 at 6 p.m. titled “Alcohol and Your Brain.”

Dr. Stephen Lykins will lead the event and discuss topics such as:

  • How does alcohol set our brain off balance?
  • What is happening in the brain during alcohol tolerance, dependence, and withdrawal?

Dr. Lykins has been with the Department of Psychiatry at Providence St. Peter Hospital since 1995. He is a graduate of the Ohio State University school of medicine and attended UCLA for his psychiatry residency. Since working at Providence he has specialized in helping patients suffering with addiction. He is board certified in both Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine.

Providence St. Peter Chemical Dependency Center has been a leading treatment provider since 1986. The Center functions as a department of Providence St. Peter Hospital under the direction of our medical director, board certified in psychiatry. Our staff of clinical professionals is committed to helping individuals whose lives have been affected by substance use and mental health disorders. We have programs for adults and adolescents, as well as services for Problem Gambling and Tobacco Cessation. Our philosophy is based on the principle that each person’s needs are unique; services must be designed in a way that will support that person and sustain recovery efforts.
