The return of the Port of Olympia’s free, family-friendly Movies at the Marina events kicks off Saturday, July 31 and will feature the sounds of country singer Ricky Hendricks, food trucks, a beer garden, and the summer favorite film “The Sandlot”. The event opens at 4 p.m.

Nicole’s Bar will present The 21+ beer garden with all proceeds supporting the 4 the Love Foundation. Food vendors Bastard Pies, Batdorf and Bronson, Kona Ice, Olympita, Uncle Pete’s Family BBQ and The Washington Center for the Performing Arts will be onsite with food and beverages available for purchase. The beer garden and food vendors will be open from 4 p.m. until 30 minutes before that night’s movie begins.

Delight in the sounds of country singer Ricky Hendricks, 5 p.m. to 7:45 p.m. Hendricks is from Louisiana and started performing at just three years old. He started writing music at 12 and placed top 48 on American Idol in 2015 at the age of 17. He joined the military in 2016 and has been stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord since 2018.

Thirty minutes after sunset get your popcorn ready and settle in to watch the 1993 summer favorite “The Sandlot” (PG). In the summer of 1962, a new kid in town is taken under the wing of a young baseball prodigy and his rowdy team, resulting in many adventures. Movie starts at 9:15 p.m.

Admission is free and no RSVP is required. Bring your own chairs and blankets and dress warmly, despite the summer sun, as temperatures drop noticeably at dusk. The family-friendly evenings will take place at the lot next to the Swantown Marina Boat Launch Parking Lot located at the Port’s NorthPoint (next to Anthony’s Hearthfire Grill and KGY radio station).

We request that unvaccinated guests wear face coverings and maintain at least 6 feet of social distance while at the event.

A special thank you to all Movies at the Marina community sponsors whose support allows the Port to offer this free community program. City of Olympia, Olympia’s KGY 95.3, and Olympia Federal Savings.

Coming by boat? Consider mooring on Swantown Marina’s guest dock for the night. Reservations can be made by calling Swantown Marina at 360-528-8049.
