LoveOly Summer Fest is Saturday, July 17

The Olympia Downtown Alliance is powering a street festival in historic Downtown Olympia that includes live music and performances, activities for kids and families, interactive art installations from local artists, local community groups, and a Biergarten featuring craft beer from 3 Magnets Brewing Co. and Well 80 Brewhouse. LoveOly Summer Fest 2021, presented by the City of Olympia, will take place every Saturday now through August 28, from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Entertainment Lineup: Saturday, July 17

The Olympia Film Society (OFS) has partnered with the Downtown Alliance to produce the headline acts for the festival on the Main Stage in the Entertainment Area, sponsored by Olympia Federal Savings. The Hinges will headline the Saturday, July 17 Main Stage performance opened by the Holy Thieves. The Hinges are a psychedelic folk-rock group from Olympia. Electronic sounds, strings, and gorgeous vocals will take you on a journey you won’t want to come back from.

In addition to Main Stage acts, July 17 is full of other activities to choose from!

12:30 p.m. -1:15 p.m. Alex Zerbe, the Professional Zaniac moves like a rubber band from one end of the stage to the other. Experience a comedic onslaught of absurd ideas and odd skills and see why this two-time Guinness World Record holder was voted Seattle’s Funniest Physical Comedian. Location: On the Main Stage in front of the Capitol Theater, 206 East 5th.

1:15 – 1:45 p.m. Summer Fest welcomes The Amazing Anthony! The Amazing Anthony utilized the last 15 years practicing funk styles dance, juggling, hat tricks, object balancing/manipulation, and sleight of hand coin and card magic. Location: Intersection of 5th and Washington

2:00 – 3:15 p.m. Summer Fest welcomes The Olympia Symphony! Members of the Olympia Symphony Orchestra and Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia are waiting for some brave conductors to step up on the podium, pick up the baton, and conduct the orchestra! It’s your choice — Mozart, Beethoven, Journey, or music from The Magnificent Seven — just hold up a number and lead the way! Location: On the Main Stage in front of the Capitol Theater, 206 East 5th.

4:30 – 5:00 p.m. Miguel Perez Gibson Flamenco Guitar. Location: Intersection of 5th and Washington

4:00 p.m. Summer Fest welcomes The Holy Thieves to the Main Stage. Location: On the Main Stage in front of the Capitol Theater, 206 East 5th.

5:00 p.m. Summer Fest welcomes The Hinges to the Main Stage. On the Main Stage in front of the Capitol Theater, 206 East 5th.

12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Activity Area: Activities for kids from the Hands On Children’s Museum including bubbles, chalk, Make & Take Kites & Flyers, Peg Board Pinball, Three Little Pigs Engineering and PVC pipes. Location: On 5th between Capital and Washington.

Biergarten Area: Biergarten featuring beer from Three Magnets Brewing Co. and Well 80 Brewhouse. Location: On Washington Street between 5th and Legion.

Community Group Area: Get to know this week’s community group, Olympia Lamplighters. Olympia Lamplighters is a non-profit coworking space specializing in artists. Olympia Lamplighters isn’t just a creative workspace in the sense of a co-working space where one can rest one’s feet and get down to the nitty-gritty. We’re also there to help you with that nitty-gritty. As a non-profit and space, our number one goal is to help you grow into your goals, whether that be as a hobbyist who wants to get better at drawing, a new professional who needs help with branding, or a seasoned artist who wants to work with the community. Enjoy street performers, clowns, circus acts; an artist alley with nearly 20 different artists’ works on display and for purchase. Join us at 1:00; 2:00; and 3:00 p.m. for partner dancing with an interactive lesson at the beginning of each. Location: On Washington Street between 4th and 5th.
