Saint Martin’s Record-Breaking Day of Giving Raises Over $142,000 for Student Success

The Saint Martin’s community supported current and future students on 3.21GIVE, Saint Martin’s University’s seventh annual day of giving, with record-breaking generosity. Nearly 340 supporters raised more than $142,000 on March 21 for a variety of funds ranging from internship stipends and student scholarships to athletic programs and many others.

“We are grateful to our community for supporting our students on 3.21GIVE with such generosity,” said Cecelia Loveless, Saint Martin’s University vice president of institutional advancement.

3.21GIVE is a 24-hour, online day of giving where alumni, faculty, staff, families, friends and corporate sponsors support the areas at Saint Martin’s that mean the most to them. The primary goal of the event is broaden support and participation in giving among our community. The event resulted in a 140 percent increase in donors and a 112 percent increase in dollars raised from the previous year’s results.

Among the new sponsors for this event was Puget Sound Energy. Saint Martin’s University was selected as the recipient of a Powerful Partners grant supporting workforce development in the region. The PSE grant is supporting Saints Promise, a program initially launched in 2020 and funded by ​​The Network for Vocation in Undergraduate Education; the program now qualifies for a potential matching grant from the Council of Independent Colleges. Thanks to the $12,500 PSE Powerful Partners grant, even more Saint Martin’s students will receive direct career support through programs such as monetary stipends for unpaid internships.

“I support 3.21GIVE because generous donors made it possible for me to become a teacher when I attended Saint Martin’s,” said Carrie Erwin ’95, “I continue to give because in May my daughter will graduate from Saint Martin’s without any school debt because of other generous donors. I love to be able to support several wonderful projects for 3.21GIVE.”
