The City of Lacey invites community members to share their vision for how Lacey should look, feel, and be in the future by participating in Lacey Cares, a new community-engagement initiative. Over the next few months, the City encourages its residents and business owners to take an online survey—available in English, Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean—on the Lacey Cares website. Participants can share their thoughts on a wide range of topics that impact local quality of life.  Five survey participants will be randomly selected to win a $250 Visa gift card.

According to Lacey City Manager, Scott Spence, this endeavor is particularly important to City Council. “Our Council is very interested in and supportive of conducting this direct dialogue with the broader community.  It’s a priority. They want to know more about the goals and aspirations of our residents, businesses, civic organizations — essentially everyone who lives, works, plays or learns here — so that they can help plan for and facilitate the implementation of community-defined priorities.”

Lacey Cares will occur in three phases, each with a unique set of opportunities to get involved, including:

  • Phase 1: Residents and businesses can share their vision through the open-ended community survey on the Lacey Cares website.
  • Phase 2: The City will sort survey feedback into major areas of interest, and then ask the community to help shape specific goals and opportunities related to each topic. If public health conditions allow, many of these community conversations will occur in person at community events, neighborhood meetings, and other venues.
  • Phase 3: The community will be asked to help prioritize potential actions toward the identified goals.  This will include a variety of engagement opportunities from town hall meetings to online and telephone surveys. Specific engagement opportunities will be updated on the website as public health conditions continue to evolve.
