Westport Winery and Ocean’s Daughter Distillery are taking down walls to create the first dual tasting room licensed in Washington. On January 1, a new law was enacted that allows wineries, breweries, and distilleries to operate in the same area without intervening doors.

The distillery and winery are owned by the Roberts family. Company co-founder Blain Roberts said, “We have the two businesses operating side-by-side but with separate entrances. For us to have open access affords better access for our guests and greater ease for our team members to flex between duties. This was smart law.”

For the company it is a simple but important change. Kim Roberts who is the project designer said, “We only need to remove a window and a half wall. This will link our businesses together in a way that is beautiful and convenient.”

The Roberts family are in the process of constructing the International Mermaid Museum at Westport Winery Garden Resort that is slated to open on March 29, 2021 (International Mermaid Day). They plan to have a dual tasting room in that building as well.

General manager Carrie Roberts said, “We have worked for over a decade to create a complete destination resort here on the Washington Coast. We even added four RV spaces last fall and look forward to hosting campers next summer. Although the heart of our business is the winery, with the distillery, restaurant, museum, camping area, gardens, and event center, we believe we have created a unique place for all ages.”

Family-friendly Westport Winery Garden Resort, the Sea Glass Grill, and Ocean’s Daughter Distillery are located halfway between Aberdeen and Westport in coastal Washington State with 15-acres of display gardens and over 50 sculptures by local artists.
