Meet Klondike! He is a 72-pound, 11-month-old, Texas blue lacey. He has a lovely and short blue coat with white accents. Klondike’s breed is the official state dog of Texas. His personality and heart are as big as his home state. This boisterous bundle of energy is looking for active home with sturdy, confident children to love. He is very tidy boy who would prefer to be the king of his castle with no other pets to threaten the throne.

Klondike is big, strong boy who needs a loving, confident family who will give him lots of physical activity and continued training. His potential family should have securely fenced yard with lots of room to run. Please understand currently, he does not get along with other animals, including fellow canines, due to his sheer size, exuberance, personality, and need for continued positive reinforcement training.

Here is good breed information, to help you decide if Klondike is the dog for your family:

“Texas Blue Lacy’s are intelligent, intense, active and alert. Originally created to work feral hogs, the TBL was developed into an all-around working breed for ranchers, cowboys, hunters, and trappers. They have incredible drive and determination. Bold and brave, they excel at herding cattle and hunting wild boar. They are naturally territorial and will protect their property. Though TBL make excellent companions, they don’t do well with passive owners. This breed needs a calm yet assertive leader who establishes clear rules. TBL also need consistent mental and physical exercise. Due to their intelligence, they can be quickly trained to perform many tasks.”

If you have further questions, emails are the only method of communication at this time.   We all care about the health of our two-legged caregivers and the community at large, so as a precaution we are temporarily suspending our public open hours. We are still taking email inquiries and applications, and will be in touch with you as soon as we are able. We appreciate everyone’s understanding during this difficult time! Stay Well!
