Flag football teams from all over the Northwest and as far away as Hawaii will clash over Labor Day weekend in Lacey for the right to compete at the Flag Football World Championships next year in Orlando, Florida.

Teams do not have to qualify prior to this event and the local community can participate by entering a team. The Battle Northwest Regional Tournament has divisions for all ages and skill levels including men, women, co-ed and youth.

“Battle Northwest is a great fit for our local sports facility, the Regional Athletic Complex. We are thrilled this tournament also offers a recreation opportunity for our local athletes to challenge themselves. The economic benefit to our local community is significant and important as well, driving an estimated $320,000 in visitor spending to the region” said Shauna Stewart, CEO of Olympia & Beyond Sports Commission.

Battle Northwest has two formats for both five and eight person teams with both contact and non-contact options.

“We are very excited to welcome the upcoming Flag Football tournament to the Regional Athletic Complex, and to Lacey!  This is a unique opportunity, and the City of Lacey Parks & Recreation Department looks forward to being a part of it,” said Jen Burbidge, Parks & Recreation Director for City of Lacey.

The tournament takes place at the Regional Athletic Complex Saturday, August 31 through Sunday, September 1.

“We are extremely excited to bring the Flag Football World Championship Tour to Olympia and excited to see some of the top teams on the west coast compete for a bid to the World Championships this coming January,” said Travis Burnett, Co-founder of Flag Football World Championship Tour.

Teams can register and find rules at FFWCT.com and the deadline to register is Aug. 26 at 4 p.m. Prizes include cash prizes, trophies and medals.
