The City of Lacey’s Long Lake Park safety improvement project will begin Tuesday, May 28. During the project, the City will close the park for 8 days over a 10-day period. However, the park will remain open over the weekend.

During the 8-day park closure, walk-in visitors and vehicles will not have access to any part of the park including the swim area, volleyball courts, and trails.

Park Closure Schedule:

CLOSED: Tuesday, May 28 – Friday, May 31 for underwater hazards removal

OPEN: Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 for weekend use

CLOSED: Monday, June 3 – Thursday, June 6 for dock removal

Due to concerns about the safety of Long Lake Park’s swimming area, the City hired a professional aquatic-safety consultant to assess the beach, dock, and swimming area and provide recommendations for park improvements. Based on the consultant and staff’s recommendations, and to ensure the safety of all park visitors, the City will:

  • Install an additional security camera.
  • Remove underwater safety hazards.
  • Remove the dock.

The City plans to re-purpose and relocate the dock to Long’s Pond at Woodland Creek Community Park as an upgraded fishing dock, as swimming is not allowed at this location. The dock is available for people under age 14 or over age 70 to fish at the park.
