I-5 Rest Areas in Thurston County Temporarily Close for Maintenance

Drivers planning to use the Interstate 5 Maytown or Scatter Creek rest areas in Thurston County will need to make other arrangements due to separate maintenance closures of each facility.

Washington State Department of Transportation maintenance crews will close the restrooms and grounds to complete a number of projects in advance of the busy summer travel season.

11:59 p.m. Monday, May 6, to 5 p.m. Wednesday, 8

  • Maytown Safety Rest Area (southbound I-5) will close.

11:59 p.m. Monday, May 13, to 5 p.m. Wednesday, May 15

  • Scatter Creek Safety Rest Area (northbound I-5) will close.

Drivers can get information via the WSDOT mobile app. WSDOT also provides email updates for major roadwork on state highways in Thurston County.
