The Oly Town Artesians exciting 2019 season kicks off with a bang on Saturday night when the defending Evergreen Premier League runners-up, the Seattle Stars, visit Black Hills High School. May the 4th be with you on Star Wars Night with a costume contest, trivia, games and prizes. There will be an inflatable soccer darts board and the giant soccer ball for the kids and more throughout the game. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and first kick is set for 6:00 p.m.. Tickets are just $8 for adults and $5 for kids 5-12, military, first responders and seniors.
The Artesians are coming off a successful 2018 season in which they went 5-3-2, finishing with the third best record in the EPLWA, just barely missing the playoffs due to the league’s wild card rules. Christian Segovia and Daniel Gonzalez led the way with four goals apiece. Gonzalez recently signed with the Sounders U23s of the USL League Two but Segovia returns and is part of a healthy mix of veterans, recently graduated collegians and current collegiate players that head coach Matt Herrera has focused on improving on 2018 and making the EPLWA playoffs for the first time.
Saint Martin’s alum JJ Olson returns for his third season in goal behind a backline that includes First Team All-Western Indoor Soccer League selection Nate Boatright and All-Armed Forces defender TJ O’Connor. Daniele Zaccagnini anchors the midfield along with newcomer and PLU alum Shane Gutierrez, and Evergreen grad Esau Vazquez is joined by his brother, Geovanny, who helped FCM Portland to the National Premier Soccer League’s semifinals last season.
Off the field, it’s been a season of change for the Artesians, including Leon Grinnell joining the club as the Director Of Soccer Operations. Well 80 Artesian Brewing is the new presenting sponsor and are featured on new kits and sponsor the club’s new supporter’s group, the Well Heads. Oly Town also welcomes Jimmy John’s, Hotel RL Olympia, Century Cleaners and Cinco De Mayo as new sponsors. Teaming with Founder and General Manager Brandon Sparks, the Artesians have focused on providing a top-notch game day experience for fans including Cinco De Mayo providing concessions at all home games.
Single game tickets and Well Heads memberships are on sale now and can be purchased at www.olytownfc.com/tickets. Single game tickets are just $8 for adults, $5 for seniors, military and kids 5-12 years-old. Well Heads memberships are $80 and include the new slate jersey, a Well Heads scarf, season tickets, 20 ounce pours for 16 ounce prices at Well 80, and more.
