National Hospital Week is May 12-18 and Mason General Hospital & Family of Clinics plans to kick off the MGH&FC Week Celebration with a free Family Health Fair on Saturday, May 11, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Hospital’s Main (south) Entrance.
Everyone in the community is invited to this fun and informative community health event that has something of interest for the whole family! Features include diabetes screenings, blood pressure and vision checks, falls risk screenings for seniors and development screenings for children. Promoting breast cancer awareness and prevention, the first 50 women, who are Mason County residents, without sufficient health insurance to cover mammography screenings can qualify for a free mammogram in the Hospital’s Diagnostic Imaging department’s using our new 3D Mammography system. This service is provided by the Karen Hilburn Cancer Fund, a chapter of MGH Foundation.
The Fair also offers fun and games for children including a fire truck and ambulance exhibit! There will be free massages and healthy snacks, gift baskets, prizes, and more! And you will learn what great services your Hospital District has to offer the community including, My Mason Health that gives you access to your medical records online 24/7, and My Mason Virtual Care where you can get a doctor’s visit over your phone or internet device! You will also have an opportunity to sign up for a class in Advance Care Planning and establish a durable power of attorney to ensure your healthcare choices are met should you later become unable to arrange them for yourself. Come out and discover what local area Support Groups are available, or how you can become a Volunteer in the community. And if you are still without a health insurance or need to make changes to your existing plan through Washington Health Plan Finder, you can get help signing up at the Family Health Fair.
Sample some healthy snacks and get valuable wellness information while the kids enjoy activities planned just for them ‒ and maybe you’ll take home a prize from the Family Health Fair. Admission is free, so bring the whole family and enjoy a morning of fun while learning about your health and discovering the great services MGH&FC has to offer!
