When faced with an injury or issue, the last thing someone wants to do is travel for orthopedic care. Fortunately, there’s great news for those in the Olympia area; Tumwater’s Washington Orthopaedic Center is moving and expanding. Their new Lilly Road location is conveniently located and staffed by skilled providers patients know and trust.

Patients from the Olympia area originally traveled to the Centralia clinic for quality care. In 2017, a small satellite clinic opened in Tumwater, facilitating easier access. But it soon needed a larger space. With a 34 percent increase in the total number of annual patient encounters, the time was right. An added bonus? The clinic’s new location will now be permanent.

Washington Orthopaedic Center’s providers are looking forward to the larger space. “With the increase in patient encounters, we knew we would need a larger space to better accommodate patients,” says Tabitha Northrup, Medical Office Manager.

The medical office off Lilly Road was a perfect fit. And renovations will make it more efficient for patients and overall workflow. There’s plenty of room for a state-of-the-art digital x-ray machine, a full-service casting room, and plenty of exam rooms.

Washington Orthopaedic Center offers a wide range of services including arthritis care, sports injury treatment, and foot and ankle care. This includes treatment for bone disorders, arthritis, fractures, trauma, and deformities. They also offer osteoporosis care, direct anterior hip surgery, hand surgery and treatment for issues like trigger finger, tendonitis, ganglion cysts and Dupuytren’s contracture.

The practice also recently added their first fellowship-trained hand surgeon, Dr. Chad Bender, in December 2018. In addition, the center welcomed Dr. Bryan Nestor, a fellowship-trained total joint surgeon.

“Both additions, with our already highly trained medical staff, made this a perfect opportunity to expand our clinic into Olympia,” says Northrup. ”We are proud to offer the community individualized care and national level expertise with multiple fellowship-trained surgeons.”

Dr. Chad Bender completed his fellowship training at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, which serves as a worldwide tertiary referral center for conditions of the upper extremity.

With the addition of Dr. Bryan Nestor, a fellowship-trained adult reconstruction and joint replacement surgeon, the expertise at Washington Orthopaedic Center is unmatched.

Dr. Nestor completed his undergraduate education at Gonzaga University, then went on to Georgetown University School of Medicine for his Medical Degree. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.

After his training, he joined the Navy and was stationed at Portsmouth Naval Hospital. He completed his fellowship training at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), which is ranked the top orthopedic facility in the nation by U.S. News. After his fellowship training, he joined the HSS team and continued to practice there for over 20 years.
