Westport Winery’s Duckleberry Grunt earned Best of Class at the 2019 Savor NW wine competition held in February in Cannon Beach, Oregon. This delicious blend of Gewurztraminer and blueberries features grapes harvested at Red Willow Vineyard in the Yakima Valley AVA. A portion of the proceeds from this wine is dedicated to Grays Harbor Ducks Unlimited. The duck sculpture created by Westport carver Vern Jones is located in the winery’s Fragrance Garden. The label features original art by Oregon painter Jill Neal of Bigfoot’s Wife.
The winery’s Lighthouse dry Riesling earned a gold medal at this event. It is crafted from Red Willow Vineyard grapes as well. The label features a watercolor by Darryl Easter of the winery’s iconic symbol, their 40-foot lighthouse that is a one-quarter scale replica of the Grays Harbor Lighthouse. This wine benefits the Westport Maritime Museum and the Grays Harbor Lighthouse Restoration project. The winery’s lighthouse was designed by Westport engineer Tricia Rogers and built by Humphrey Construction in 2008.
Both of these wines will be featured at the famed Cannon Beach Wine Walk on March 7 and 8. Westport representatives will be hosted by Dragonfire Gallery. Additionally, all Westport’s wines are available for tasting in their tasting rooms in Seaside, Oregon and Aberdeen, Washington.
Silver medals were awarded to Maritime sparkling Riesling, Bog Berry Blush cranberry Gewurztraminer, Little Wild blackberry Riesling, Dawn Patrol raspberry Riesling, Charterboat Chick’s Cabernet Sauvignon, Mermaid Merlot, Jetty Cat Red, Going Coastal sparkling Gewurztraminer, Captain Gray Gewurztraminer, and Fleur de Lis Pinot Gris
Westport Winery Seaside received the 2019 Rising Star Award from the Seaside Chamber of Commerce. Westport Winery and the Roberts family were honored with Seattle Business Magazine’s Community Involvement Business of the Year for 2018. In 2017 the Westport Winery Garden Resort was named Greater Grays Harbor Business of the Year. USA Today named the Sea Glass Grill at Westport Winery Garden Resort one of the top five winery restaurants in the nation. The business has been voted Best Winery by King 5 Evening Magazine.
In 2016 Westport Winery was honored as one of the top twenty most-admired wineries in North America by Winery & Vineyard Management Magazine. The business earned Best Winery, Best Wine Shop, and Best Boutique Winery for 2016 by South Sound Magazine. They received the Grays Harbor Environmental Stewardship Award in 2015. They are finalist to the Best Washington Family Business competition by Seattle Business Magazine. And in 2011 they garnered Washington Winery to Watch by Wine Press Northwest.
