South Puget Sound Community College and Clipper Athletics celebrated the 100th win for men’s basketball head coach Aaron Landon on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019, at home against Tacoma Community College. The 77-67 win makes Landon the first basketball coach in Clipper Athletics history to reach 100 wins.

Now in his sixth season with the Clippers, Landon has served as the men’s basketball head coach since the 2013-14 season and has turned the program into a fierce competitor in the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC). Landon led the team to three playoffs in the past three seasons, reaching the Elite 8 for the past two seasons, and was named NWAC West Region Coach of the Year in 2017 and 2018. Currently, the team ranks number one in the West Region with just two games remaining in regular season play.

In five seasons, Landon has seen more than a dozen players transfer to 4-year universities, with several students playing at the university level. He has also seen players successfully balancing academics and athletics; at end of Fall Quarter 2018, the men’s basketball team had a collective GPA of 3.27, with eight student-athletes making the President’s, Vice President’s, and Academic Excellence lists.

In addition to his role on the court, Landon serves students, the college, and the community. He volunteers annually at the SPSCC Foundation Clipper Scramble golf tournament and The Experience fundraising gala, is an active member in the National Association of Basketball Coaches, and serves as a full-time educational planner for SPSCC students and student-athletes.
