Bike MVP is a pilot program of Intercity Transit’s Walk N Roll Youth Education Program aimed at engaging high school youth in learning a new skill, while giving back to their community with service hours that could count toward graduation and other school requirements. We are recruiting 12 students to participate in our first Bike MVP with classes beginning Feb. 12, 2019.

Learn Bike Mechanics

Participants will attend eight classes for a total of 20 hours, which will cover how to completely overhaul and maintain a bicycle. Each week focuses on one bike part or component. Classes are split between a lesson and hands-on practice. Classes are Feb. 12 through March 7 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Register here.

Earn Community Service Hours

After completing the full MVP Program, graduates will sign up to volunteer during open shop times on Wednesdays from 1 to 5 p.m. or Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., where they will work on bikes for our Earn-A-Bike Program. Each MVP graduate must commit to volunteering 20 hours before summer.

Our bike shop is volunteer staffed, and dedicated to building bicycle for a free after-school class, Earn-A-Bike. We have given out over 300 bikes through classes at seven local middle schools since our program began.
