The 10th annual Olympia Dance Festival features over a dozen dance groups from the area performing ballet, jazz, modern, tap, ballroom, hip-hop, Irish, Chinese, belly dance and more! This years’ festival features two special guest artists. Julia Erickson, former Principal Dancer with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre and Sam Picart, the hip-hop dancer who won Ellen DeGeneres’ Dance Off. Each guest artist will perform a solo as well as a duet of classical ballet and street dance ~ live musical accompaniment from Joe and Naoko Sokolik who have played with the Olympia Symphony.
“The duet of the guest artists drawing on such different movement styles with live music is a real treat. The diversity of the festival is really great for both seasoned dance audiences and people totally new to dance. All of the pieces are fairly short, and encompass a wide range of styles. We even have a short dance film this year! There’s definitely something for everyone.”
