Every year, the Olympia Master Builders (OMB) host two big public events: the Home and Garden show and the Tour of Homes with the coordinating event Chefs on Tour. These events take a lot of planning and work by the OMB staff to happen. Though both events are months and months from now, planning is already underway.
“This year, the Home and Garden show will be held on April 27 and 28, a week later than usual,” says Brianna Bedell, events director for the OMB. Once again, the event will be held at Saint Martin’s University’s Marcus Pavilion. Bedell adds,
“It’s a great one-stop shop for all home-related needs—not just builders, remodelers and landscapers, but also roofing, flooring, HVAC, insurance, cleaning, home decor and anything else you could need for your home.”
The popular LEGO brick building competition for kids ages 5-12 will return for its sixth year, as well as the doghouse building competition and auction, with proceeds benefitting Concern for Animals.
In the months to come, booth assignments will be coordinated, vendors will be booked, and all the pieces will be put into place. Then, before you know it, the event is over, and the heavy lifting begins for the next event.
The Tour of Homes will occur on Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22. Kicking off the Tour of Homes weekend festivities, Chefs on Tour will happen on Thursday, September 19, where Thurston County’s top builders and remodelers are teamed up with some of the area’s finest chefs to deliver an experience like no other.
Chefs on Tour gives the public early VIP access to select homes that will be open for the Tour of Homes. At each stop, ticket holders will tour the beautiful home while they enjoy delicious bites featured by a local chef. “Add in some music and beverage for the most unique progressive dinner you’ll ever experience,” says Bedell.
“We sold out this year, so it’s definitely important for people to purchase when they first go on sale in August.”
Following Chefs on Tour, the expert team from Elite Cleaning of Washington gives each house a thorough clean, bringing back the shine before the big Tour of Homes weekend.
In the months to come, homes will be selected, chefs will be partnered with home builders, and route maps will be planned so the event goes off without a hitch.
More information will be released as the dates for each of these two events draw near, so keep an eye out for info from the Olympia Master Builders as it becomes available.
