Annual consideration of proposed amendments to the 2019 Tumwater Comprehensive Plan will begin in January 2019. Applications and requests for map and text amendments must meet the requirements of TMC 18.60 – Text Amendments and Rezones.
The Tumwater Comprehensive Plan is a legal document adopted by the City Council that establishes policies that guide future development. The City Council, Planning Commission, private firms, and individuals use the Plan to make decisions about land use, capital improvements, and the enactment of development regulations and related growth management legislation.
The Tumwater Comprehensive Plan contains eleven elements:
  • Capital Facilities Plan
  • Conservation Element
  • Economic Development Element
  • Housing Element
  • Tumwater – Thurston County Joint Plan
  • Land Use Element
  • Lands for Public Purposes Element
  • Parks, Recreation, and Open Space Element
  • Shoreline Master Program
  • Transportation Element
  • Utilities Element
Property owners, residents, or government agencies may request Comprehensive Plan Amendments.
To apply for map or text changes to the Comprehensive Plan, please contact the City’s Community Development Department for an application and information on submittal.
