Submitted by City of Lacey

The Comcast cable franchise agreements of the cities of Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater, and Thurston County are up for renewal in 2019. The cities and the County are working together to negotiate new agreements, and we want to hear your voice.

A public meeting is being held to gather community input in preparation for negotiations with Comcast.

Share your input, in person, with a Comcast representative, or City and County staff member:

July 26, 2018
6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Olympia City Hall
601 4th Ave E, Olympia

Can’t make the meeting? An online survey is available to gather your input. Visit: https://www.opentownhall.com/6274 to tell us what you think.

According to state and federal laws, county and city officials can negotiate specific issues in the agreement, including programming categories; Public access, Education and Government (PEG) channels; customer service standards; and franchise fees, among other issues.

Unfortunately, these limitations prevent cities and counties from addressing some concerns about Comcast cable and video service including rates, internet and phone service, channel placement, and à la carte options.

More information about the cable franchise renewal process can be found on each jurisdiction’s website.
