Is your youth group looking for ways to raise money while also giving back to the community? Youth groups based in Thurston County have the opportunity to earn a stipend up to $400 for completing stormwater-related projects this coming summer and fall.

Youth groups can now apply to participate in the 2018 Thurston Youth WIN (Work Involvement Now)! program.

Thurston County Stormwater Utility initiated this program in 2012, which pairs up youth groups looking for fundraising and community service opportunities with projects that benefit our local communities and water resources. Youth participants gain valuable experience in community engagement and leadership, and learn how all of us in Thurston County—our neighborhoods, farms, businesses, recreation areas, fish, and other wildlife—depend on clean lakes, streams, and drinking water, which are impacted by stormwater.

Youth groups can choose from a list of approved projects or propose their own project that would address local stormwater issues and/or positively benefit local water sources. Funds are limited, and applications will be evaluated in the order they are received.

To be eligible to participate in the Thurston Youth WIN! program, youth groups must meet certain requirements. Requirements and application materials are available online at WIN.ThurstonStormwater.org.

If you have questions regarding the Thurston Youth WIN! program, please email StormwaterUtility@co.thurston.wa.us or call 360-754-3355, Ext. 6857.
