The Percival Condominiums, a 7-story development of The Rants Group, will be located at the corner of Columbia Street and Thurston Avenue, adjacent to Percival Park. The residences will include all features of upscale Pacific Northwest living: sweeping views of the Puget Sound, an urban backdrop, located within walking distance of restaurants and entertainment, and complete with modern finishes and appliances.

Pat Rants is the president of The Rants Group, a longtime Thurston County developer. The Percival Condominiums are the latest flagship project for the firm, and the only one of its kind south of Tacoma. “We were constantly hearing individuals voice their interest in purchasing upscale downtown view living in Thurston County, but it just didn’t exist,” says Rants. “This project will meet that need for potential residents, while providing the housing diversity that the city is seeking to revitalize and elevate Olympia’s downtown area.”

The deluxe condominiums will also meet several of the overarching objectives laid out in the city’s Downtown Strategy (DTS) set by the Community Planning and Development Department. These goals include integrating housing, employment, shopping and entertainment in a compact way, fostering a lively public waterfront, and creating unique, memorable and active public spaces. As downtown Olympia aims to be a vibrant and attractive location for businesses and residents, it is the hope of all involved parties that bringing high-end residences and economic diversity to the area will produce a symbiotic reaction—a population with an above-average spending capacity will encourage businesses to open shop, and bring more spending capacity. In the end, all of downtown Olympia wins.

The Percival Condominiums are now pre-selling for a 2020 move-in and projections point to high demand. “People desire the benefits high-end condominium living—amazing views, minimal maintenance, walkability, and convenience—without needing to move to Seattle to get it,” says Rants. “Longtime Olympians, and those hoping to become Olympians, now have that option.”
