Drivers planning to use the Maytown or Scatter Creek rest areas off Interstate 5 in Thurston County will need to make other arrangements due to separate maintenance closures of each facility.

The closures of the restrooms and grounds will give Washington State Department of Transportation crews the opportunity to complete a number of maintenance projects in advance of the busy summer travel season.

Maytown Safety Rest Area (southbound I-5)

Crews will close the rest area from 11:59 p.m. Monday, May 7, to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 9. The next available safety rest area is located 39 miles south at milepost 54 in Cowlitz County.

WSDOT provides Safety Rest Areas across the state to give travelers a place to rest before continuing on their journey.
