Tumwater School District and TOGETHER! have been working together for years to bring necessary in-school support to the students of Tumwater and beyond. One of their most powerful and popular programs is the annual Back to Basics event series, where volunteers from the medical community come together to provide back-to-school care to students at no cost.

The summer’s second and final Back to Basics event was Tuesday’s free immunization clinic. Immunizations were performed by Thurston County Public Health and Thurston County Medical Reserve Corps. Community partners Hands On Children’s Museum, South Sound Reading Foundation, Tumwater Youth Programs, CHOICE Regional Health Network, Tumwater School District, South Sound YMCA, Head Start, and Tumwater Timberland Library tabled outside the clinic with information and resources. Giveaways were provided by Kaiser Permanente and TOGETHER!. Financial support for this year’s Back to Basics event series was provided by Kaiser Permanente, Tumwater Walmart, and the City of Tumwater. In all, 88 families and 105 students were served at the clinic. Among those 105 students, 125 vaccinations were administered to 65 kids.
