If you’re a sports fan, the transition from summer to fall is probably your favorite time of year. Between baseball playoffs and football kicking off, you may have your TV watching planned out through the spring. Who cares that fall is on the horizon? It just means it’s time to don your blue and green and root for the Seattle Seahawks. And in Olympia, there is no better place to watch the game than O’Blarney’s Irish Pub.

With a state-of-the-art system including 16 HD screens and both satellite and cable, O’Blarney’s is the premier destination in Thurston County for telecasting sports. With subscriptions to both Comcast and DirectTV, O’Blarney’s has access to virtually every sports channel including PAC12 network for those all-important Husky and Cougar games. They also have NFL Sunday Ticket for cheering on the Seattle Seahawks as well as all out-of-market NFL games.

“It’s pretty safe to say if you can’t see it at O’Blarney’s, you can’t see it anywhere,” says Mike Heelan, owner of O’Blarney’s Irish Pub, located on Martin Way in Lacey. “It’s really what distinguishes us from the other bars in town. We are double paying for a lot channels, but we do that to make sure we can air all the games our customers want to see.”

And with so many screens, Mike says they can probably find you a spot to view your home team, though audio is reserved for the featured game. Their TVs are equipped with FM transmitters, so you can bring a digital radio and tune into your game if you want to make sure you have audio as well. “But, people really come to talk and socialize, so we don’t get many people using the FM audio,” he adds. “People start cheers when their team gets a touchdown – the energy from the crowd of sports fans here is just amazing.”

During Seahawk games, O’Blarney’s has a special menu that includes fun foods such as the Hawk dog, Bam-Bam wrap and 12th Man nachos. They are still working on a few new items for this year’s menu as well.

O’Blarney’s shows every NFL game every week including Monday and Thursday nights and all day Sunday. No matter what team you root for, you’ll find them on one of the big screens there.

Mike says the best part about watching the games at O’Blarney’s is the camaraderie. “We’ve had so many people who have built really great friendships by watching sports here,” he says. “It’s amazing how sports bring people together. We see it every weekend when people come together to watch these events and then they are out playing golf together or hanging out. And it starts over a beer, watching a game. We love being the place everyone comes and all the friends we have made over the years as well.”

O’Blarney’s Isn’t Just for Football

If football is not your thing (gasp!), don’t worry. O’Blarney’s airs many other sports including baseball, soccer, basketball, golf, boxing and UFC. There are hundreds of sporting events each week and O’Blarney’s shows as many as they can.

In fact, O’Blarney’s is kicking off the fall sports season with what might well be the biggest boxing event of the season when Floyd Mayweather takes on Conor McGregor on August 26. This is the first time that a current UFC champion has ever challenged a boxer to a boxing match. O’Blarney’s will be airing this pay-per-view fight on the 26th along with drink specials and of course, lots of Irish flags in honor of McGregor (what else would you expect from an Irish pub?).

Drink specials will include 20-ounce Bud Light drafts for $3 and Budweiser bottles for $2.50 since Budweiser is the official sponsor for McGregor. Food specials are still being created, but you can count on some special fight night themed offerings. The fight starts at 6:00 p.m. so come early, grab a seat and a beer and get ready for the fight of the century.  Advance tickets are available for $15.00 or $20.00 at the door.
