Perhaps it was fate.

When Kim Bosler and her husband Ron Boeckmann first opened Olympic Plumbing Technology in 2007, she hit the streets to drum up business, walking into local companies and passing out flyers. One of those was Fatso’s Bar & Grill, a local eatery owned by Dave Wheeden.

On his end, Wheeden was in need of their services. “We’d just lost our last plumber,” he says. “Up until then, we used to kind of go through them.” He followed up, contacting the company for commercial issues at the restaurant. But, then a funny thing happened. Everywhere they went, the couple and Wheeden encountered each other. “We would run into Dave all the time,” says Bosler. “Our boys were in swimming classes with his grandkids and it was just a consistent thing.”

Before long, Wheeden was using Olympic for all of his plumbing needs. “I felt really comfortable with Ron,” he says. “He’s just a great guy. He didn’t come in spouting all kinds of nonsense. I can tell when somebody’s a nice person.” Over time, Wheeden hired the company for issues on two homes and multiple commercial sites. “Ron even put in a new automatic faucet for us at our golf course,” he says.

He appreciates the fact that they are a small, family-owned business.

“This is not a big corporation, they’re family people in our area,” he says. “These are very trustworthy and down home people who are part of our community.”

The professional relationship eventually extended to include properties Wheeden didn’t even own yet. Before buying a new home, Wheeden brought Boeckmann in to do an inspection. “Ron found a couple of small leaks underneath the toilets that could be fixed easily,” he says. “They had been there for a little over two years and we wanted to know if there was any lasting damage. He was able to tell us that it wasn’t serious and that made things a lot easier for us.”

The company provides full service plumbing and drain cleaning services, but also whole house plumbing, water heater replacement, bathroom and kitchen remodeling and more. They educate clients on ways to conserve water (and money!) and become more energy efficient through tankless water heaters. Customer service plays a big role in their success and in some cases, professional relationships blossom into friendships.

That was the case with Wheeden and his family. After learning that the couple liked to bake clams, they offered Bosler and Boeckmann the use of their vacation home in Long Beach during clamming season. “We trusted them to stay there without us,” he says. “They ended up having a good time.”

Wheeden is no longer actively involved in day to day operations at his various local businesses, but ten years after Kim Bosler walked into his restaurant, he’s proud to have been one of their first clients. For her part, she appreciates how the relationship has grown. “Ever since we met them, they’ll call us if they need us,” says Bosler. “They’re great customers and great people.”
