Coffee and the Pacific Northwest go together like peas and carrots. And, if you ask most locals, they will extoll the virtues of their favorite coffee place in town. For the past two years, that go-to place for many people has become Drip Espresso Bar.

Located on the corner of Union and Capitol, the coffee shop has grown steadily since their debut in June 2015 and is celebrating their second anniversary with a party on June 22. From 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Drip guests will enjoy free pastry samples (while supplies last), $2 drink specials, a raffle and prizes throughout the day. Come grab a hot or iced coffee, one of their fresh fruit smoothies or a homemade pastry and celebrate two years of success.

Owners Robin Vaughn and Maria Meconi are thrilled to reach this business milestone knowing that many businesses don’t make it through those first few rocky years. “Starting up a new small business is hard,” admits Vaughn. “We credit our success and consistent growth over the past two years to our awesome customers. They come in each day, recognize and appreciate what we are offering with house made, high-quality ingredients and have become part of the Drip family.”

It’s these loyal customers, with more people discovering Drip Espresso Bar every day, that Thursday’s party is all about. “We want to show our customers how much we appreciate them and thank them for these two amazing years,” says Vaughn. “We don’t take our success for granted and know we wouldn’t still have our doors open if it weren’t for them.”

Another strong partner in the Drip Espresso Bar family is local coffee roasters Batdorf and Bronson. Not only does Drip use their well-loved Dancing Goats blend, but the Batdorf and Bronson staff have worked together with Drip in their first years to ensure all staff are trained in the best practices for creating delicious craft coffee beverages.

As part of the celebration, Batdorf and Bronson are donating an incredible basket of coffee goodies to be raffled off to one lucky customer. Entry is free to anyone visiting Drip on June 22 and the winner does not have to be present to win. The basket contains two pounds of Batdorf and Bronson coffee, clothing items including a hat, hoodie and t-shirt, and two coffee mugs. In addition, Drip gift cards and travel mugs will be given away as prizes throughout the day.

Many people come to Drip for their delicious drinks. But more and more often, the baristas are earning customer loyalty for their selection of pastries, too. All crafted in Drip’s own bakery by pastry chef Callie Robello, savory and sweet pastry offerings along with yogurt parfaits and quiches grace the Drip Espresso Bar shelves.  At the two-year anniversary celebration, guests can sample chocolate chip and snickerdoodle cookies, lemon bread, banana bread and Drip’s very popular gluten free raspberry bars.

In addition to quality coffee and handmade pastry, Drip is known for their seasonal specials. Right now, hand squeezed strawberry lemonade is on the menu featuring Spooner’s strawberries.  Pair with a Spooner’s strawberry galette (a fruit tart) and you will be literally tasting summer. Kid’s adore their fresh fruit smoothies and parents love the lack of artificial ingredients in all the offerings at Drip.

In their second year of business, Drip has seen a sharp increase in their customer base. “We hope that means we are doing something right,” smiles Vaughn. Word of mouth, coupled with their convenient and walkable downtown location, has helped to create a steady increase through their doors. In September, the new 1063 Block Project, under construction just diagonal from Drip’s front door, will open for business.

The offices inside are set to house hundreds of employees and Vaughn says they are excited to welcome them to the neighborhood. “We love the regulars that come to see us each day and hope we see many new faces coming through the door this fall, making Drip their go-to morning coffee stop.”
