If home ownership is on the agenda — whether growing, downsizing, or taking the plunge for the first time — The Village at Mill Pond welcomes shoppers at any stage of the process. A relatively new live-work-play community located at 2400 Lilly Road NE in Olympia, their Craftsman design, green spaces, commercial opportunities, parks, gardens, trails, and more can meet any housing need.

For one local family, 2016 marked their first Christmas in a new Mill Pond home. The Herling family discovered the development in a local advertisement and moved in late October 2016. For Emily Herling, the combination of staying local and high quality craftsmanship made it an easy choice.
“We have family in Port Orchard and Grays Harbor,” says Emily. “Staying in Thurston County was important because we really like the Olympia area; we moved literally three miles away from our previous home. This development has the most character out of any new homes we have seen in the entire North Thurston area. The Craftsman-style homes are beautiful and incredibly well made.”
She continues, “We are most looking forward to the community center being completed and the multiple parks that will be added to the development. We are hopeful that there will be a coffee shop in the community center that we can walk to as well as a small fitness center.”

With two young children, the Herling’s chose the 3 bedroom/2.5 bathroom Magnolia model. Combining more than 2,300 square feet, upstairs loft space, and private master-bedroom covered balcony, it blends luxury with practicality. “It was an easy decision because we have two kids and the Jack and Jill bathroom works perfectly for them. We also liked that it did not have a formal dining room as we did not utilize that space in our previous home; the Magnolia is free of wasted space,” explains Emily.
Outside of layout and quality workmanship, the community’s emphasis on green living struck a chord with the Herling’s. “One selling point was that the homes here are energy efficient. We have a heat pump, a tankless water heater, and the furnace is in the attic which saves space in the garage. Another selling point was the location. We like to be relatively close to I-5, but we do not hear I-5 near as much as we did at our previous home. The upstairs balcony was also a selling point as was the warranty that comes with the home.”
All properties have customizable options, finishes, and color schemes, especially for buyers building from the ground up. With eleven home styles and available lots across the Village site, the build team works hand in hand with the RE/MAX Parkside brokers and sales agents to keep the process smooth and turnaround times short.

“We are very pleased with everything and could not be happier with our decision and home,” says Emily since moving in. “The Mill Pond staff check in with us periodically to make sure everything is going well and Paul McLain did a great job of selling our previous home and keeping us optimistic that everything would work out. We are looking forward to families moving in hopefully in the near future!”
The Village at Mill Pond is open seven days a week from noon until 5:00 p.m. or any time by appointment. Staff are always on site to answer questions and a detailed scale model illustrates the community’s expansive plans. To date there are homes in all stages of completion for viewing or purchase.
