Alan Alda once said “Awards can give you a tremendous amount of encouragement to keep getting better, no matter how young or old you are.” Though still a relative newcomer, the Village at Mill Pond housing development on Olympia’s Lilly Road is fast becoming the hottest ticket in town.

In keeping with their goal to become a trendsetting live-work-play community for all ages, the Village at Mill Pond encourages visitors to drop by its lush, high-quality development seven days a week.

RE/MAX Parkside agent Paul McLain, part of the project since its inception, speaks proudly of their participation and success at the recent Olympia Master Builders Tour of Homes/Chefs on Tour extravaganza in August 2016. “For the Tour of Homes we received the prestigious best floorplan for the Redwood Model, and best staging provided by Lisa Poundstone and Design Smart Staging. We also received a tie for the best chef.”

The Redwood is a four bedroom, 3.5 bathroom, 3,047 square foot Craftsman dream. Builder Greg Amendala and his team perfected this two-story home, complete with wraparound porch and private second-floor balcony off the master suite, to surpass every expectation.

As with all 11 Mill Pond designs, green build techniques insure low heating and cooling costs and minimize the overall ecological footprint. Customizable touches mean the final product checks every box on your wish list.

But an empty building can be hard to picture as yours. To present model homes at their best, Lisa Poundstone’s Design Smart Home Staging & Redesign brings in elegant, tasteful furniture, art, and personalized touches which make every house feel like a home.

“The judges selected this home because it showcases a warm and comfortable setting in each room which complements the design of the home and the ambiance of the neighborhood,” explained Angela White, communications director for Olympia Master Builders who organize the annual Tour of Homes.

“The Tour of Homes is a great opportunity for the public to view the quality and innovation in new home construction and remodeling,” says White. “The tour is a self-guided, scattered site (usually within Thurston County) event and admission is free. The Village at Mill Pond was awarded two Judges’ Choice Awards during the 2016 Tour of Homes: The People’s Choice Awards were determined by the public, and the Judges’ Choice Awards were decided upon by a panel of two impartial judges who visited each site during opening day of the Tour.”

The Best of South Sound winner in Interior Design for 2013, 2014, and 2015, Poundstone “was personally trained and mentored by Barb Schwarz, the creator of the home staging concept. Lisa brings her passion for organization and aesthetic beauty to all of her staging and design projects.”

New this past year was the addition of Chefs on Tour. VIP ticket holders were able to peer behind the curtain and visit five of the Tour of Homes sites, sampling amazing culinary creations before the homes were open to the public. The Village a Mill Pond hosted French foodie Jean-Pierre, an executive chef about to re-launch his self-named, highly-anticipated restaurant in early 2017.

White was thrilled to have Mill Pond participate in the new event and “their Chef, Jean-Pierre’s Urban Bistro, also won a Best Chef Award.”
