Life is perking merrily along at Forrey’s Forza at both the Hawks Prairie and DuPont locations. It’s already been three years since owner/operators Christine and Tom Forrey opened the Lacey café. The community embraced the homey atmosphere where people have been encouraged to linger with friends over Dillanos’ coffee.

As enthusiasm has grown, Forrey’s Forza has stepped up to meet the need for a larger multi-purpose room. After acquiring the adjoining space of a former tenant and doing a serious interior remodel, they have created a spacious conference and party room that can seat 100 people. The front seating area of the café looks the same, but the kitchen, bakery, office and staff spaces have all been reconfigured.

The smaller conference room (also known as the board room), located near the front door, is also available and easily reserved. It accommodates 12-18 people with all of their electronic devices. Lora Budd, an Account Executive with AestheticsPro, has been using the meeting space for her team on a weekly basis for over two years. A group of medical software workers, they enjoy their time as they have lunch and work together. Budd notes, “The service is our favorite part.” More details and contact info regarding these rooms are on Forrey’s Forza’s recently revamped website.

Forrey’s Forza began with the idea of a comfortable coffee shop, but they envisioned a bigger picture. In addition to offering food, they stayed open into the evening and served both beer and wine. In the spirit of fun, they organize bunco and trivia events and schedule live music performers. “We have something great here,” said Christine who thoroughly enjoys connecting with the community.

In the early days, Christine’s mother Maureen McLemore agreed to make her tasty carrot cake. Tom Forrey made the pies and quiches. As time went by and McLemore looked at the other goods they were buying from outside sources, she affirmed, “I can make that treat.” Now dozens of her chocolate chip cookies are sold each week. She bakes other cookies, sweet breads and fills the cases with her recipes (excluding the gluten-free choices).

Tom has ramped up his pie and quiche production and works full-time in the bakery. The pies are sold under the name of TC Pies. You’ll find all these treats at the DuPont café, too. Plans are in the works to bake bread for their sandwiches and sell loaves. Rev up your appetite by looking at their expanding menu choices. Cook Levi Benson keeps busy in the enlarged kitchen.

When the Yelm Farmer’s Market opens later this month, you’ll find Tom selling his pies and Maureen’s banana and lemon breads. The market will be open on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

On your next visit to Forrey’s Forza, be sure to say Happy Birthday to the team. Christine’s upbeat view on life can lift you up as well as a cup of coffee.

Forrey’s Forza is open seven day a week. Check out upcoming activities and news by going to their new website.
